REFLECTION
I had to learn about the culture of a new region, as well as how to use the online presentation tool Prezi. I looked for official sources of information and was sure to cite my references. I learned to use Prezi by watching a training video and then exploring the tool on my own.
This project will help students to explore their choice of presentation tool and encouraging creativity in how to present. The students must adhere to responsible online citizenship while gathering and presenting materials. The ultimate goal is that of gaining compassion for a region previously unknown through gaining more knowledge and understanding.
I learned about the Prezi tool, which I had seen other teachers use, but I traditionally resorted to PPT because I already had it and had a knowledge of how to use it. I learned that Prezi provides a lot of preprogrammed options for people who have a rudimentary understanding of design. I prefer PPT, but I appreciate knowing how Prezi works and having it as an addition to my tool belt.
I struggled with patience. Honestly, I wanted to create a more robust project, but I had a headache and just needed to get the project done. I also struggled with a lack of resources for the project content due to not having an established classroom.
I will introduce the concept and key characteristics and necessary functions that make up culture. Then the students will explore a culture they would like to present on, and an online tool they would like to present with. Then, we work on project creation, followed by peer reviews, editing, and finally presentations wherein evaluations will be filled.
